Nokia 7705 Twist in a small yet efficient design

Released earlier this year, the Nokia 7705 Twist comes out as a new approach to the design in messaging devices. The Twist features a swivel design along with a full QWERTY keypad that comes out with a 90 degrees rotation of the back. The phone is indeed very light with a weight of just 96.4 grams and the small foldable design makes it very appropriate to fit any pocket. In the right bottom corner of the handset is a hollow ring that acts as the hinge of the swiveling motion. When folded, the phone looks extremely squarish but it's length extends out to 114.3mm when unfolded. Made of high quality plastic and chrome plating, it comes with a built that feels solid in the hand. The Nokia 7705 Twist comes with a 2.4 inches TFT colour display with a resolution of 320 X 240 pixels. Below the display one can find a pair of soft-keys that are touch-sensitive along with a large 5-way navigation key. This device opens with a smooth spring-assisted swivel to reveal the QWERTY keyboard. The keypad comes with 5 rows of nicely placed keys which are raised and separate from each other to allow convenient texting. The top of this keypad features a row of shortcuts that include quick access to music, entertainment, messaging and camera. This handset is a dual-band CDMA device that also supports 3G service network. Altogether the phone offers decent reception with nice and distinct sound quality. The internal memory available in the phone is 256MB which can be conveniently expanded by using external memory cards in the card slots. The phone book on this one allows a user to add up to 1000 contacts with multiple entries and fields for each contact. The entire device is powered by a standard Li-Ion 860 mAh battery that gives a talk time of up to 4 and ½ hours apart from a standby time of almost 13 days. Messaging options in the mobile phones are available in the form of SMS, MMS, Email and IM with integrated support for popular mail services like Hotmail and Gmail as well as access to corporate servers like Microsoft Exchange. This phone is also enabled with Bluetooth that allows easy data sharing among compatible devices apart from letting the user to connect a wireless headset. Also included is a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support. This allows the phone to be used as a navigator for voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, available for an additional monthly fee. Instant mobile Internet can be accessed with a built-in Polaris-powered web browser, capable of loading full HTML version of websites. Packed in the Nokia 7705 Twist is a 3 mega pixel camera that comes along with an auto-focus feature and digital zoom. A handful of other features like flash, white balance and colour effects are also included. The media player on the other hand is a standard fare with playback capability for MPEG4 and MP3. Playlist creation is directly available on the handset and one can browse songs by artist, album, genre, or playlist. The phone is currently available in Black only, with Xpress-on Covers in black and purple. Other important features in the Nokia 7705 Twist include a built-in mirror, USB, Voice command/dial, speaker phone, Calendar, Calculator, TO-DO, Stopwatch etc.
